Cytogenetics is a branch of genetics that is concerned with the study of the structure and function of the cell, especially the chromosomes. Chromosomal aberrations in adults and children can be detected by cytogenetic tests and even it can also predict a miscarriage from the study of the parents’ chromosomes.
Suraksha has been one of the pioneers in the field of in-house Cytogenetic study and a one-stop solution provider for personalized diagnostics in Eastern India in the area of conventional and molecular cytogenetics.
OUR FACILITY
- Our cytogenetics department consists of the latest equipments and advanced technologies such as Multicolour Karyotyping, Fluorescence In-situ Hybridization (FISH), Interphase Chromosome Profiling (ICP).
- Reporting is done as per ISCN Guidelines (International System for Cytogenetic Nomenclature) and procedures are established as per American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG).
- Detailed interpretation of report followed by genetic counseling; as supportive aspects only for referring clinicians where ever applicable.
