ECHINOCOCCUS (HYDATID SEROLOGY) IgG

Echinococcus Antibody IgG is a test that looks for antibodies to Echinococcosis (also called hydatidosis), a disease caused by a type of tapeworm called Echinococcus. Below are the symptoms of Echinococcosis:

  • Lung cysts that cause chest pain.
  • Coughing.
  • Abdominal pain.
  • Blocked bile ducts in the liver.

Imaging or blood tests are usually used to make a diagnosis. However, the serological testing method is used more often than the other way. Tests for Echinococcus Immunoglobin (IgG) antibodies are done in a sterile environment. The blood sample of a patient is taken in this way. This means the test is negative if no IgG antibodies are found in your body. If the Echinococcosis IgG antibody is found, it is positive.
